The SPACE Upstairs Reimagines Rural Arts Celebration at the Burk’s Falls Fairgrounds

Fourth annual event marks an exciting new chapter for the growing community arts organization

The SPACE Upstairs is proud to announce the return of its annual Spring Showcase, taking place Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at the Burk's Falls Fairgrounds.

Now in its fourth year, the Showcase has steadily grown into a beloved free community celebration featuring original works by youth artists alongside performances by local guest artists and creatives from across the Almaguin region.

Created with accessibility and connection at its core, the event reflects The SPACE Upstairs’s broader mission of making arts and movement experiences more available in rural communities and creating opportunities for people of all ages to engage with the performing arts close to home.

After three successful years at Land of Lakes Public School, this year’s event marks an exciting new chapter as the Showcase moves outdoors to the fairgrounds for the first time, thanks to the support of the Armour, Ryerson, & Burk’s Falls Agricultural Society.

The event will transform the fairgrounds into an open-air celebration of dance, movement, creativity, and community connection, welcoming families and residents of all ages to experience the arts in a vibrant and accessible setting.

“We’re so excited to bring the Spring Showcase to the fairgrounds this year,” said Jillian Peever, Artistic Director of The SPACE Upstairs. “A central part of our mission is making arts and movement feel accessible and connected to everyday community life. In rural communities, we don’t always have traditional theatres or arts spaces readily available, so we love exploring unconventional settings where people can gather, connect, and experience creativity together. There’s something really special about bringing dance and art outdoors and into a space that has so much community history.”

Organizers say the move reflects the organization’s continued commitment to creating accessible arts experiences in rural communities while providing opportunities for young artists to perform, collaborate, and thrive in an encouraging and community-focused environment.

The Showcase will feature performances by youth dancers and artists from The SPACE Upstairs, alongside special appearances from local guest artists and community collaborators.

The event is free and open to the public.
